Straits Clan Opening Party

Programmed the official opening party for Straits Clan, Singapore’s new private members club for change-makers and thought leaders in business, creative industries and the non-profit sector from across Asia. Working to the theme of new beginnings that the club hopes to usher in, we activated every space and floor to get guests feeling present, motivated and immersed in what Straits Clan has to offer on any given day and when they throw a shindig - conga line included.

Singapore icon and its most celebrated composer, songwriter, and playwright, Dick Lee, made a surprise appearance as one of the guest DJs on the lineup, getting the crowd in Tropicana grooving to party favourites from across the decades.

With two karaoke rooms, there was never any doubt that we had to programme at least one to be a massive sing and dance along. With multi-talented entertainer and Youtube sensation, Hirzi at the helm, Madam Wong’s was a riot of pop, popular culture and aural pyrotechnics from start to closing.

The level 3 co-working area was turned into an exhibition space for two creatives and members of Straits Clan - singer-songwriter Inch Chua, with inspiration and mementos from her recent expedition to Antarctica and a video and processes presentation by Elyn Wong, fashion designer and founder of Stolen, Straits Clan’s artist-in-residence this year.

Putting the Bey in new Bey-ginnings, we turned The Attic into a giant music video of Beyonce’s ‘Crazy In Love’ because that’s how we feel about the space.

Guests were choreographed, dressed up in their drag queen/ club kid best courtesy of Becca Da Bus and Bobby Luo’s mad collections and filmed live on green screen. Watch the video next.

Straits Clan members showed us how Crazy in Love and fun they are with their newly learnt dance moves and wardrobe, recorded live on the night.
